Requirements for Licensure
To be eligible for a real estate broker license, the state of Florida requires you to…
- hold an active sales associate license for at least 24 months out of the past 5 years
- be at least 18 years of age
- have a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- receive approval of your state application
- complete and pass a state approved 72-hour course
- pass a state examination
- You do not need to be a Florida resident

State Application and Testing Process
To become licensed as a real estate sales associate, you must do the following: Fill Out State Application ( Don’t forget, you need to apply for the Florida state examination) Submit your application:
- Online – Department of Business and Professional Regulation website
- The application fee paid to the state is $89.00
- It will take 4-6 weeks on average for the state to process and approve your application.
- Check the status of your application by clicking here.
- You must submit your fingerprints electronically before your application can be approved.
Submit Fingerprints Appointments are scheduled with the state testing vendor, Pearson VUE. This can be done calling (877) 238-8232
Complete the 72-hour Licensing Course
- Upon passing the final examination completion slips are issued.
- The certificate will be prepared and sent to you within three (3) business days. It is sent by United States Postal Service and should be retained in your records in case of audit.
- Before you can take your state exam, the state must approve your application for licensure. You must bring your completion slip with you to be permitted to test.
To schedule your exam Contact Pearson VUE, the state testing vendor. They have locations throughout the state. You can make an appointment by calling (888) 204-6289
- The exam fee paid to Pearson VUE is $31.50
- If you fail the exam, you may retake it as many times as necessary, at a cost of $31.50 each time, as soon as you can make a new appointment.
Course Duration The course is active for one year from the date of purchase, or until you pass the final exam. No extensions are given for course completion!
Course Exam Information:
- Answer Each Question In Order
- You cannot close out or use the back or previous button. If you exit the exam before you have a passing score, or fail the exam, you must wait thirty days before you can attempt it again.
- If you do not pass the final exam on your first attempt, you will be given a link to a second final exam. The second exam cannot be taken until thirty days after the first exam.
- You have one (1) year from the date of purchase to pass the exam.
- The one (1) year includes “waiting” time for a re-exam, if necessary.
- You may continue to review the online course material during this time period.
- If you fail a second time, you must repurchase the course and do all the work again.
Final Examination The state of Florida requires you to pass the end of course 100 question final examination with a passing grade of 70% or higher. You must complete each chapter quiz before attempting the final exam. The examination must be completed within a three (3) hour period. This part of the online 72 Hour Florida Real Estate Broker Pre-License course is strictly timed.

- PC: Internet Explorer or Firefox
- Mac: Firefox (Safari and Chrome users can experience issues).
- AOL Users After logging on, minimize your screen and access the course using Internet Explorer or Firefox.
IMPORTANT!
1. Do NOT use a wireless computer when taking the exam. Sometimes the computer can lose connection to the server.
2. DO NOT GO BACKWARDS TO ANSWER AND/OR REVIEW PRIOR QUESTIONS WHEN DOING THE EXAM. If you attempt to go back, it will affect completion of the exam and possibly the results. Also, do NOT exit the final exam area until it has been completed.
Anyone purchasing a course or attempting the final examination during the last week of a renewal cycle does so at his or her own risk. RSVP School of Real Estate will not be responsible for students who lose their license as a result of waiting until the last week of the renewal cycle. Extensions are NOT granted by the DBPR due to technical problems with a course.
